Fermoy 10 Temple 1

We hosted Temple last Sunday in a game we were confident of winning, we have been playing relatively well in patches this season, remaining unbeaten so far.

We started the game very well, we were playing some nice passing and moving and this lead to our first when Mark O’Shea tapped home from close range after some nice wing play. Mark then added to this a few minutes later with a lovely drive from 30 yards out that left the keeper no chance, we took our eyes off the ball shortly after this and conceded after a corner left the Temple man unmarked to nod home. This gave Temple some spirit but this was soon dashed when Dylan Crotty was able to steer the ball home after some lovely one touch passing left him clear in the 6 yard box, we made it 4 when Captain Darragh Scott hit an unstoppable shot from 30 yards that rifled into the top corner. Number 5 came shortly after with Dylan Crotty’s second.

We ended the half 5-1 up, the match was won so the emphasis was now on keeping good habits and a second half clean sheet.

We started the second half in much the same vein, Temple were trying but our quality shone through when Dale Dawson was able to make it 6, Number 7 came from Fraech McGrath, Number 8 was Dylan Crotty’s hattrick. Adam Ronan got in on the act with a suberb strike from outside the box, the ref then blew up after Dylan got his 4th. There was still 20 minutes remaining but it was unfair now on Temple.

Still unbeaten in the league we travel to Macroom on Sunday for a National Cup game full of confidence.

Leeside 2 Fermoy 2

We travelled to Leeside hoping for a better performance than was on show in last weeks draw at home to Park Utd. Preparations weren’t perfect as we lost 2 players to sickness on the morning of the match along with another that was out injured, fortunately our squad this season meant that we had fully capable players able to step up.

The game did not start great for us, Leeside were putting us under massive pressure from the first whistle, they are a good, strong team and were moving the ball well down the wings, some slack marking from us lead to them taking the lead when a free kick diverted off the wall into the strikers path who steered the ball home. We still didn’t improve and found ourselves 2 nil down at the break with a lot of work to do in the second half. Goalkeeper Ryan Sargent was a major concern who had played the first half with a pain in his back, but he bravely soldiered on for the cause. We made some positional changes at half time, though we were 2 goals down we were still confident of getting back into this game.
The second half started much better and we got straight back into the game when some neat movement left Mark O’Shea clear to stretch a leg and make it 2-1. This goal really rattled Leeside and we started to take control of the game. Ryan made a fantastic save and shortly after this kicked a ball down the flank that Dale Dawson was able to latch onto and head past the helpless keeper, giving him 4 goals in the last 3 games. We could have probably gone on to win the game but were quite happy with the draw. We are still unbeaten in the league after 3 games and are finding ourselves very hard to beat. We entertain Temple on Sunday hoping to get the important first win under our belts.
