September 20th
U12 girls v Riverstown

On Saturday September 20th the u12 girls played their very first league game for the club away to Riverstown. We had a full team of 9 with 5 subs. From the off we could see this was a strong Riverstown side but the girls held their own for 10 minutes before giving away a penalty, They scored to make it 1-0. We had a few chances to make it 1-1 to no avail until in the 18th minute Caoimhe Hartnett scored from a through ball from her sister Lisa. But before the half time whistle Riverstown scored 3 more goals.

In the second half the bigger pitch started to take its toll, Chloe Flynn and Ella Fahy made some crucial interceptions early on in the half to keep the score at 4-1, but 15 minutes into the second half the inevitable happened and Riverstown scored their fifth. Fermoy tried to hold them off until the end and were close to scoring again when Katie McCarthy put a ball through for Emer O Leary who was just caught offside. Not long after this Riverstown scored their sixth goal. Although the score line doesn’t reflect it it was an overall good performance from a still learning Fermoy side.
